This is a clear case of déjà vu. The first time Porch & Patio opened its doors was in 1950, with Sid Teitelman and his wife Hilda at the helm. They built a vibrant business, opening 6 stores with quality brands, top notch customer service and a strong devotion to their loyal staff. This time, Jeff Heitmann, has opened the new Porch & Patio in the very same location.
Jeff Heitmann is no stranger to the casual furniture industry or to Porch & Patio. He started working in the warehouse at Porch & Patio when he was in high school. He went on to become a manager. Sid Teitelman sold the business in 2003. Jeff joined another former Porch & Patio manager and opened patio stores in Wethersfield and Canton, CT. With over 20 years experience under his belt, Jeff was ready to start his own business.
When asked what excites him most about opening the new Porch & Patio, Jeff responded, “I am excited to have the opportunity to merge all that I’ve learned into a fresh perspective on casual living. Gathering friends and family together to entertain at home has become even more important these days. So, we want to offer all the finest well-known brands in casual living and some of the newest trends that make entertaining special.” Pointing to a spectacular black Gensun cast aluminum table with coordinating chairs for 12, Jeff went on to explain, “No one but Porch & Patio can bring something so special to the consumer. That is what really excites me.” Jeff explained he wants his customers to count on Porch & Patio to have the right furniture for their lifestyle. He continued, “We have already gathered many friends on our Facebook page, and are planning to use social media and traditional methods of staying in touch with our customers. Our level of customer service is even more enhanced.”
Sid Teitelman, now 95 years old, says, “Jeff Heitmann is like a son to me”. He continued “My Dad told me when I was a young man, don’t work for anyone else. Be your own man.” Now, Jeff is following in his footsteps. Sid is pleased to see the new store front, the same address, all the same wonderful brands and even the same phone number, about to re-bloom once more.
Porch & Patio is well on its way to restoring its rightful place in the casual furniture industry. Manufacturers of casual furniture couldn’t be more delighted and supportive to see their products in such a beautiful space. A stunning new façade and interior have transformed the old Porch & Patio building. Even the new sign on the building gives a clear indication that you are about to view the finest collection of casual furniture anywhere in Connecticut. Jeff Heitmann and staff have devoted themselves to the legacy they represent, in honour of Sid Teitelman. Porch & Patio offers all the top brands of outdoor furniture, wicker and rattan, fireplace furnishings, umbrellas, canopies and accessories. Some customers have already taken advantage of their refurbishing program for outdoor furniture. Others are excited to learn that Porch & Patio will pick up your outdoor furniture (no matter where it was purchased) and store it for you during the winter.
